Prof. Tao Zhu

Ph.D., Professor, Director of Institute of Atmospheric Environment Management and Pollution Control

Bio:

More than 100 papers have been published in domestic and foreign journals, including more than 30 SCI papers (including Environmental Science & Technology, Energy, Journal of Hazardous Materials, etc.) and more than 30 EI papers. In the past five years, 30 new patents have been applied for and more than 10 patents have been authorized for invention, of which 6 patented technologies have been popularized and applied. Published 8 books, including 4 monographs.

He has successively won outstanding talents in the new century in China; outstanding talents in Beijing; Sun Yuezaki Energy Science and Technology Award of the National Science and Technology Development Foundation; Young Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences; 3 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards (First Completer).

Responsible for and responsible for 4 national vertical projects, 15 ministries and commissions vertical projects, more than 20 enterprises horizontal projects; participated in 4 national major projects, 2 National 863 projects; presided over the completion of 15 projects, design and project management projects. The proposed three-stage integrated plasma treatment technology has been applied to practical treatment projects, and has generated nearly 200 million yuan output value for enterprises in the past three years; PM 2.5 fine particulate matter and heavy metals co-processing technology, an independent intellectual property right, has been selected for many times as the "catalogue of major environmental protection technologies and equipment encouraged by the state"; and with Shanxi International Energy Group in the past three years, they have set up the first demonstration project of ultra-high temperature plasma gasification and melting treatment of hazardous waste in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China.

Dr. Endrit Hoxha

Bio:

Dr. MSc. Dip. -Ing. Endrit Hoxha, a researcher at the Graz University of Technology in Austria, is an author/co-author of more than 40 journal and conference publications. After completing his Ph.D. in the science of environment and engineering in France, he worked at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne and then a lecturer at the EPOKA University in Albania. During his career, he has taught more than ten courses in architecture, civil and environmental engineering.

During his research, he addressed the topics of sustainable construction, smart buildings, circular economy, reuse of load-bearing systems, and improving the environmental pollution of buildings through the Life Cycle Assessment method (LCA). Over the years, he has been able to deepen the knowledge in terms of reliable interdisciplinary assessments of buildings by combining my knowledge in civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, probability, and statistics.

As a lecturer, he has taught courses in sustainable architecture, sustainable structural design, life cycle assessment, low carbon technologies, reuse of building components, probability and statistics for engineers, static and material strength, structural mechanics, and advanced numerical methods. He have also directed studies in environmental engineering, structural fire safety, materials for buildings, and projects in territorial and urbanistic development at the universities.

Dr. Chow Ming Fai

Associate Professor

Bio:

I obtained my bachelor degree of civil engineering and PhD degree from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2007 and 2012, respectively. Since then, I was successfully selected for the Academia Sinica post-doctoral scholar fellowship award 2012 and had been working as post-doctoral research fellow in the renowned research institute - Academia Sinica in Taiwan for 2 years (2012-2013). I had won the highly competitive international research award – “Green Talents Award” and Innovation awards such as ITEX, MTE and PECIPTA in Malaysia. The prestigious “Green Talent Award 2015” was only awarded to 27 winners out of 574 applications from around the world by German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). At university level, I was awarded the Outstanding Young Academician Award 2016 (research and publication) and Excellent Academic Teaching Award 2019. For research grant achievement, I had successfully secured 3 FRGS, 1 PRGS and 1 chair in energy economics (GCEE) grant from Energy Commission Malaysia and 1 international grant (UNITEN-Telcom grant) as project leader. I was invited as visiting researcher and invited speaker to Germany, Taiwan and Japan. My research works have been published in many high impact journals and my H-index in SCOPUS is 14 with total citation of 496. I had published 12 ISI journal papers and 14 SCOPUS journal papers as first or corresponding author. For the postgraduate student supervision, I am currently supervising 2 PhD students and 4 master students as main supervisor. Five master students have been graduated under my supervision while 4 on-going master students are writing their thesis now. Both my master and undergraduate students have shown excellent achievement in their studies including national best thesis award (3rd place), best FYP award and best paper award in iGRAD conference 2018. All these student achievements have demonstrated my academic leadership capabilities. I had obtained the professional engineer (Ir.), chartered engineer (CEng.) and professional technologist (Ts) status.

Dr. Gang Yang

Professor, Group leader

Bio:

Dr. Yang obtained Ph.D. degree from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS in 2005, and after being an associate professor for five years in Northeast Forestry University, he moved to Eindhoven University of Technology as a postdoc researcher. Since 2013, he becomes a full professor in Southwest University. He has co-authored 134peer-reviewed papers (125SCI-cited), 1 book and 8 book chapters. He has been awarded as Excellent Talents of Higher Education in Chongqing and in charge of a number of projects such as Innovative Research Group of Chongqing and National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has delivered speeches in many international and domestic conferences. He serves the editor for Current Chinese Science, PLoS One, Colloid and Surface Scienceas well as referee for more than 60 international journals (e.g., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.、J.Catal.、J. Colloid Interf. Sci.、Appl. Surf. Sci.、Environ. Sci.: Nano、J. Phys. Chem. A/B/C/Letters).

Prof. Mohammad Hadi Dehghani is a Full Professor at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), School of Public Health, Department of Environmental Health Engineering, Tehran, Iran. He is the author of various research studies published at national and international journals, conference proceedings and head of several research project at the TUMS. Dr. Rui Zhang

Dr. Rui Zhang has been teaching and studying on biochemistry and molecule biology over 17 years. Her research interests include: marine biology and molecule biology. She got PhD. on marine biology from Sun Yat-Sen University, China, and worked as postdoctor and researcher in Shenzhen Key Laboratory for Coastal and Atmospheric Research Organization PKU-HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Institution. She was a visiting scholar in University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA. In the past ten years, she has been devoted to the research of comprehensive ecological restoration of marine polluted water bodies and rapid detection of marine pathogenic molecular biology and immunity of toxins.

Dr. Hongyu Ren

Dr. Hongyu Ren is the associate professor and doctoral supervisor in School of Environment, Harbin Institute of Technology. He received his BS, MD and PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China. After his PhD, he performed postdoctoral studies at the Harbin Institute of Technology, and visiting scholar studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests mainly include algae biofuels and high-value products, anaerobic fermentation/digestion, energy and resource recovery, biological treatment processes, sludge treatment and advanced oxidation process. He has published more than 50 research papers in international referred journals. He served as an editorial board member for Water, and was the Guest Editor for Water and Energies. Dr. Yang Luo is currently Senior Research Scientist at the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Visiting Scholar at City University of Hong Kong. Previously he worked as Adjunct Associate Professor at Jiangsu University of Technology and Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Hong Kong. He is Member of The Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, Fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM), and Associate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He received double Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Technology from the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences and in Physics from City University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on environmental and energy materials. He has published more than 40 papers in peer reviewed journals including Nano Energy, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Chemical Engineering Journal, Small, Journal of Cleaner Production, Applied Surface Science, Journal of the European Ceramic Society, etc. His H-index is 12.

Dr. Mihaela Popescu

Professor

Bio:

Mihaela Popescu was born in Craiova, Romania, in 1965. She received the Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Craiova, Romania, in 1988 and 2001, respectively. She also received a Certificate of Habilitation in Electrical Engineering in 2016.

She is currently a Professor at Department of Electromechanics, Environment and Applied Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Craiova, Romania, whose director she was from 2011 to 2019.

Over the years, Prof. Mihaela Popescu has published 10 books, 69 papers in journals or proceedings indexed in ISI Web of Science, 95 papers in journals or proceedings indexed in other databases and 49 other papers. She obtained through national competition, as a director, 5 multiannual research projects with an equivalent total budget of about 2,226,000 Euro, she was a research team member in other 20 projects, and is the author of 6 patents. Her current research interests include energy efficiency, power quality, power electronics and electrical drives.

Prof. Popescu is an expert of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. She is an IEEE senior member, a member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Industry Applications Society, a senior member of the Association of Computer Science and Information Technology and an academic member of the Electrical Engineering Research Unit in Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER)."

Dr. Jingyu Cao

Bio:

Dr Cao is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University (Ranks 252 in USnews-2021). In the past 8 years, Dr Cao has been carrying out research around the field of renewable energy utilization and sustainable technologies, advanced heat transfer, heat pipe, two- phase heat transfer, air conditioning, heat pump, etc. As an influential young scholar in above fields, he published 43 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and 18 peer-reviewed papers in international conferences; claimed 15 national patents; received several distinguished research awards; and was involved into more than 10 research projects. Particularly, he has acted or is acting as the Principal or Individual investigator of 7 research or talent projects with a total funding of over 260,000 euros.
